Database Analyst

The Database Analyst is responsible for helping the Digital Team analyze client CRM, DMS and Point of Sale systems and campaign data to connect the dots between marketing initiatives and ROI. This person reads data like others read books and has the innate ability to see the big picture while understanding the impact of the smallest changes. Innovation, curiosity and creativity are key traits that fuel the Database Analyst’s work, resulting in on-point recommendations on sales, segmentation and other client initiatives. The Database Analyst plays an integral role campaign planning and Account Team communication, helping the Agency Planning Supervisor and the rest of the Digital Team develop solid, cohesive marketing plans for clients. This person also has a solid understanding of Google Analytics and can read campaign data.

Detailed Responsibilities include:

  • Analyze client CRMs, DMS and/or Point of Sale systems
  • Develop customer segmentations based on client data
  • Assist account team in the development of email and direct mail campaigns
  • Assist in database analysis for new business pitches
  • Build client email campaigns
  • Provide email targeting recommendations to account team and Agency Planning Supervisor
  • Review campaign data to optimize future campaigns
  • Work directly with Account and Creative Team to ensure messaging, calls-to-action, subject headers and other email elements and functionality is within email rules and standards
  • Maintain a solid understanding of spam rules, implications and regulations
  • Be one of the agency thought leaders on email and direct mail marketing
  • The ability to connect dots between customer CRM/DMS/POS data and data in Google Analytics
  • Help Digital Lead and other Digital Analysts pace AdWords campaigns
  • Assist Digital Lead in monthly client reporting
  • Create one-off ROI reports on request for Account Team
  • Execute monthly and weekly email sends
  • Help develop email campaign recommendations
  • Work with directly with vendor to gather print lists and recommendations
  • Other duties as assigned


Experience and Attributes:

  • Four-year degree in advertising, marketing, communications or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 4 years advertising and/or marketing experience
  • Minimum of 2 years Database Analyst experience
  • Experience with Python, HTML5, Java a plus
  • Experience with data visualization software (Tableau, PowerBI, or similar)
  • Experience in Dreamweaver, Constant Contact, Mail Styler and/or MailChimp a plus
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to lead client and account team conversations as they relate to campaign tactics, strategy and results
  • Reliable, professional and extremely organized
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word; Microsoft Access a plus
  • Intermediate knowledge of CRM/DMS/POS tools, database management, email and direct mail campaigns
  • Google Analytics Certified
